R.H. Sheldon & Son directional drilling, home
The R.H. Sheldon & Son crew standing together in front of the directional drill and the vac truck.

You will talk to the people doing the work.

Not a big-box corporate contractor with a department queue between you and an answer.

The head driller plans your job.

The person who plans your bore is the person who runs the machine. The person you talk to about your hydro excavation is on the crew doing it. Nothing gets relayed through an account manager who has never stood in the pit.

And if something is wrong, you reach the Vice President or the President. Not a ticket number, not a queue, not a callback window. That is the whole arrangement, and it is the reason people keep calling back.

Four generations of the same ground.

Everything this company knows about working around live gas was learned the slow way, by a family that has been doing it in this part of Ohio for well over a century.

Late 1800s

The family goes into oil and gas

The Sheldons start working in Northwest Ohio oil and gas, in the country that produced the first Ohio boom.

1914

Sheldon Gas Company is founded

The company that still anchors the family, now past 110 years and still family-owned.

1976

R.H. Sheldon & Son is formed

Stood up to serve the oil boom of the era, doing the underground work the field needed.

Since

Into horizontal directional drilling

One of the first contractors in the area to offer HDD, and later adding hydro excavation in-house rather than hiring it out.

A women-owned business in a trade that does not have many.

R.H. Sheldon & Son holds an Ohio Women-Owned Business Certification. On public and institutional work that certification can count toward participation goals, which makes it worth telling your owner about early rather than at bid time.

It also happens to be true of how the place runs day to day. Lindsay W. Hollar is Vice President, and she is one of the two people you reach when something needs deciding.

Want the certificate, a W-9, or a COI for your prequalification packet? Ask and it goes out the same day.

Small enough that you learn their names.

The same people show up on your job that showed up on the last one. That continuity is most of why the work is consistent, and it is something a company running four crews out of a regional office genuinely cannot offer you.

Talk to somebody who does the work.
